Semicollared flycatcher spends the winter in Africa, but returning back to the Bulgarian lands in the spring. Because of the destruction of the old natural forests, which are its habitat, the species is with “Nearly Endangered” international status and “Vulnerable” in our country. In the spring of 2016, volunteers from the Science of Nature Foundation, together with experts from the ecological station at the Atanasovsko Lake Reserve – ISEI – BAS, installed 26 nesting houses in Eastern Strandja to help and preserve the type of territory in the country. This year, a new action was taken – cleaning off the houses in order to increase nesting in them.
The flywheels are already returning to Bulgaria for the breeding season. We wish them a successful stay and a lot of shouting chicks throughout the year.
